Robotics

The children were lost in the world of LEGO^® while using the WeDo™ Robotics Construction Set. They set off to all sorts of adventures while they skillfully build different models. Various motors and sensors were attached while they programmed their robots with great enthusiasm. The look of satisfaction on their faces on completion of their project was priceless. The world of animals was explored as they built lions, monkeys, birds and crocodiles. Birds chirped and danced while lions lied down when they shook its bone. A particular sport was also a hot topic. The excitement grew when two groups in a particular class teamed up to create a penalty situation in football. One group did a mechanical kicker while the other builds a goal post with a goalkeeper. They were over the moon when this experiment was a success. It had all the class cheering for them. These kinds of activities help you explore a series of cross-curricular links and theme-based activities while developing their skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, as well as language and literacy. It is a perfect tool to trigger their imagination in all sorts of wonders. No need to say more! Below are some examples of what they did. Don't forget to click on the video!

All about computers in Grade 2!

General Technology was the first lesson that set of the grade 2 students into the world of technology. They learnt about the basic parts of a computers and how they work.  Understanding also the general rules in the lab will ensure pleasant lessons throughout the year. They finished off their activity with drawing their own image of a computer and the details were so impressive that we had to them share it with you!

Technology Awareness Week for Grade 4, 5, 6 and 7

Grade 4

 Focused on better understanding of machines. Aware that a computer is a machine and it manipulates data according to a set of instructions. Every machine from a computer to a dish washer follows the same stages in information handling. Input, processing and output. 

The children pretended they were machines and acted the stages of information handling. It definetly helped them understand better how it works. 

Technology is all around us and we use practically every day. An interactive activity was played online and the objective was to find as many technology as possible.

Grade 5

Understood that a computer is made of hardware and software and explored it in detail. Focusing mostly on the hardware they learnt that there are three different types of devices: Input Devices, Output Devices and Storage Devices.

They also tested there knowledge in an interactive online activity.

Grade 6

Understood better that a computer is composed of hardware and software, and can exist in a variety of sizes and configurations. 


Here they are busy looking at different hardware and dismantling broken computers to learn more how they work.

They looked at the first computers invented and saw the difference in what we have today. Many many different type of computers exist nowadays!

To so small! We even have wearable computers.......What a difference!

Grade 7
To communicate one needs to use a language like Maltese or English. The computer has its own language which is Binary.

Binary is made up of two numbers 0 and .Zero represents off and One represents on. Binary is made up of codes which are understood by the CPU (central processing unit).

The children had fun convert their names into binary language.

They were also challenged with a Technology vocabulary slider puzzle played online for better understanding.
