Technology Awareness Week


Back to school and back into the IT lab with the updates on what's happening.


Technology Awareness Week for Grade 4, 5, 6 and 7

Grade 4
 Focused on better understanding of machines. Aware that a computer is a machine and it manipulates data according to a set of instructions. Every machine from a computer to a dish washer follows the same stages in information handling. Input, processing and output. 


The children pretended they were machines and acted the stages of information handling. It definetly helped them understand better how it works. 

Technology is all around us and we use practically every day. An interactive activity was played online and the objective was to find as many technology as possible.











Grade 5
Understood that a computer is made of hardware and software and explored it in detail. Focusing mostly on the hardware they learnt that there are three different types of devices: Input Devices, Output Devices and Storage Devices.


They also tested there knowledge in an interactive online activity.






Grade 6
Understood better that a computer is composed of hardware and software, and can exist in a variety of sizes and configurations. 


Here they are busy looking at different hardware and dismantling broken computers to learn more how they work.











They looked at the first computers invented and saw the difference in what we have today. Many many different type of computers exist nowadays!

From this massive size.......





To so small! We even have wearable computers.......What a difference!




Grade 7
To communicate one needs to use a language like Maltese or English. The computer has its own language which is Binary.


Binary is made up of two numbers 0 and .Zero represents off and One represents on. Binary is made up of codes which are understood by the CPU (central processing unit).

The children had fun convert their names into binary language.

They were also challenged with a Technology vocabulary slider puzzle played online for better understanding.
