We are graphic designers. We are pirates....Grade 4

During their ICT lesson the students of Grade 4 turned into young Graphic Designers and edited their portrait photo to become pirates. This is part of their thematic approach project about Pirates.

They used the necessary graphic editing tools to make their photo look like they are pirates. Here are some!

Trapped in Grade 6

The Grade 6 students were busily preparing the plan for their Long Writing Task related to Trapped. The English lesson has been taken to the IT lab to create the story using technology. Rather than always writing their writing tasks on their copybooks or paper, they did it on the computer.  Lego Education Story Starter was used to build a scene from their story. The Project was a success!

Grade 5 students create Notices for Fund-Raising Events

One of the objectives in the Grade 5 English curriculum is for the students to learn how to create a notice. During their IT lesson throughout this scholastic year, and as a cross-curricular link to English, each class in this grade will be creating notices, using Microsoft Publisher, for the various fund-raising activities held at school. When complete they will print these notices and display them for all to see. This will definitely help them to own the activity and garnish more excitement for each event

This initiative, which will tie in the learning experience of our grade 5 students to the various fund-raising activities was created by Ms. Gail, as HOD of English and Ms. Abigail, the ICT co-ordinator, in conjunction with The Fundraising Committee.

Here are some samples of the notices created thus far.

Hour Of Code at San Anton School

The Department of Curriculum Management organized the first National Edition of the Hour of Code between Monday 7th and Friday 11th December 2015. This was part of an international event organised during Computer Science Education Week which has been organised for the last couple of years.
The majority of San Anton School students took part in this event. Great Awareness is made across the world to continue learning computer science.
This year the global movement added more than 100 million learners in 180 countries.
We believe that every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science that is why we have been exposing our students to computer science for years and will continue to build on this achievement. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career.
We start teaching our students how to use simple control devices like a Bee-bot at the age of 3 years in the early sector and continue improving their skills with many challenging devices like Lego Education Robotics in the Junior Sector to Lego Education NXT Java Script language programming in the Senior Sector.
